Barry was just an ordinary guy. An uber-nerd with a penchant for being chronically late, socially awkward, and fairly unremarkable. Then the S.T.A.R. Labs particle accelerator went online and everything changed…

Well, not everything. Barry still has all the characteristics of being mostly a dork, and he still manages to be late to just about everything, but the being unremarkable thing, that has definitely changed.

Thanks to an explosion and a bolt of lightning Barry now has the powers of The Flash. Superspeed comes with a lot of fringe benefits, most of them Barry and his friends are still discovering, and new responsibilities. He's a hero now, fighting to protect Central City from the threats of criminals, madmen, and of course, other metahumans.



Physical Description

"Lightning gave me abs?"

Barry is 6'1" with brown hair and hazel eyes. He's 25, but, as he's so often had pointed out to him, he hardly looks it. He's lean and possibly one of the least intimidating guys you'll ever encounter. That being said he is a superhero. It's not always easy to tell, but beneath the sweaters and dress shirts he's well toned and a lot stronger than he looks. A touch of his arms or elsewhere will reveal that he's pretty solid.

He's coming in from the beginning of canon, so any appearances as the Flash will see him in the signature red costume with a red bolt emblem.



Powers and Abilities

"I've spent my whole life searching for the impossible, never imagining that I would become the impossible."

Barry Allen is fast. Like, blink and you miss him Fast. His abilities are the result of what's become known as the Particle Accelerator Explosion which struck him with a bolt of lightning and ultimately allowed him to tap into the Speed Force.

He is still trying to uncover his full potential and push himself to be even faster and as he does so he discovers other abilities his powers grant him; such as the ability to run up buildings and over water. He can also vibrate in place to make his features unrecognizable, or vibrate his vocal cords to disguise his voice. Phasing is coming, and beyond breaking the sound barrier he'll be able to bend (and break >.>) Time as well.

He has a hyper-metabolism that allows him to heal extraordinarily fast. It also makes him highly resilient to drugs and poisons, and it means he can out eat a football team. The drawbacks to this are that he has to eat, like, a LOT, or he risks a hypoglycemic crash and he'll pass out, and alcohol has next to no effect on him (but maybe the Bar can change that).

When he's using superspeed in costume or out he appears as a blur with yellow lightning, if he's perceived at all.

In addition to super speed and all that entails Barry is also a pretty smart guy. He's a fount of random knowledge, especially science tidbits, and a gifted forensic scientist. Working for the Central City Police Department as a Crime Scene Investigator Barry is often able to put together the details of a crime scene with great accuracy and insight. His knowledge and training in this area also serves him in other ways as well. He has enough medical background to be of use in a first aid or emergency situation, and his love of science means he's versed in other fields such as physics and chemistry.

All of this comes from his thirst to find and prove the impossible; a mission he undertook in an effort to solve the murder of his mother and free his accused father.
