Things are finally starting to calm down in Central City. The epidemic is starting to let up, and those affected are on the road to wellness. The antibodies Caitlin developed (and farmed in Cisco) were shared with CCPD first and now the department is regaining its ranks from the previously bedridden.

Barry could probably do with a vacation sometime soon, but with Yamato's help, and short stints at the comm from Cisco and Caitlin, The Flash has seen Central City through the crisis.

With a break in the chaos achieved at last, there's only one way to celebrate. Coffee.

Holding the front door to CC Jitters open, Barry gestures Yamato inside with a flourish.

"And here we are, best cup of coffee in Central City."

It's the typical trendy sort of joint, high-tables with modern stools, couches and overstuffed chairs, and a hipster huddled with their laptop in every semi-dark corner.

The air is fragrant with the smells of fresh-ground roast, and behind the counter an espresso machine sputters under the deft control of a barista, while another woman loads fresh pastries into the bakery case.

"Cisco, obviously he'd be called the Hsalf," Yamato says, patiently. "Because he'd be the opposite of the Flash. I'll also accept The Incredible Slowness Guy."

Because Barry is, after all, the Amazing Fastness Guy.

He shakes his head, giving Barry a quick smile. "I'm glad you do. And don't worry, you'll do just fine," he says. "And on the highly unlikely chance that you don't, just remember that I trained Jyou 'Shut My Eyes, Windmill My Arms, and Scream' Kido, and I already know for a fact you're better than that."

"Gesundheit," Cisco says, because clearly whatever Yamato just said was some sort of awkward sneeze and not a lame attempt at naming their next evil villain.

"Both of those are chopped right now, and if you keep sneezing nonsense I'm definitely going to tell Caitlin she needs to give you a shot before you go."

"Here we go again... " Barry sighs as it looks like Yamato and Cisco are about to get into the name game again.

"I'm just gonna throw one out there. What about, The Slowmeister?"

When Yamato brings up Jyou and his style Barry gives it some consideration, "Maybe I should fight him."

He's kidding of course. Mostly. There was maybe a time when that was basically Barry's style. Pre-speed, of course.

"Right, right, because Molasses was so much better," Yamato says, then points a finger at Barry. "See, Barry gets it. The Slowmeister is a great name, and that's not me giving any kind of permission for him to name me, so don't even try it."

Some things require frequent and fervent clarification.

"He's improved a lot. Or -- he can adequately defend himself now, if he absolutely has to. I'd still place my bets on you," Yamato says, shaking his head. "But basic self-defence was plenty for him, the guy's not exactly seeking out danger."

Jyou might not exactly be the only sane person in the group, but he does do the best impression of one.

"Molasses is perfect!" Cisco announces, perhaps a bit too loudly. "It's a play on idioms. 'In a Flash' versus 'Slow as Molasses'. The Slowmeister is the worst name."

"Dude, simmer," Barry says to Cisco, glancing around to see if they've attracted any attention.

Defending his name choice seems like it would only escalate the situation, so Barry focuses on Jyou.

"I'm sure he can handle himself all right, considering everything you guys have been through. Not seeking out danger is probably a smart move."

Yamato is just about to open his mouth and fire back, equally loudly if not louder, his own opinions on the subject, but Barry's remark makes him remember that they're in public and that's a surefire way to have 'Man believed to be the Flash sighted in coffee bar desperately trying to quell argument over sugar beet byproducts,' in the papers by tomorrow, so he keeps quiet on the matter.

"Yeah, he's got one of the better senses of self-preservation in the group. Most of the time, at least."

Not that that's necessarily a monumental feat.

Cisco does shut up, but continues to throw looks and shake his head a Yamato.

"Worst," is his only comment.

Barry gives Yamato a grateful look for not escalating.

Still, as grateful as he is for avoiding the possible cover-blowing shouting match, Barry can't help ribbing Yamato a little.

"Well, considering who Jyou is with I don't know if that's a very hard thing to do."

Yamato frowns, folding his arms.

"My self-preservation instinct is grea -- ..." he stops midway through that, glancing over at Cisco, then amends, "is, er ... is fine. Functional."

Beat.

"Takeru has excellent self-preservation instincts."

That's not really true either. The Ishida-Takaishi act-like-a-heroic-moron gene is dominant.

Cisco gives Yamato a 'for real?' look, clearly ready to call B.S. if Yamato should move forward with his argument regarding being anything short of terrible at self-preservation.

"Yeah, for a super-loose definition of 'functional'."

[run_barry]

"Functional is better than not," Barry says with a smile, patting Yamato's shoulder.

"Anyways, yeah, we'll totally do this training sparring thing. It'll be great."

"Your face is a super-loose definition of functional," Yamato mutters to Cisco.

So there, Cisco. Checkmate.

"Great, I look forward to it," he says to Barry. "Training with someone new should be pretty useful for me."

Cisco bristles, just curbing a, 'Your mom' reply.

"So will yours be when Barry breaks it," he returns instead.

Barry rolls his eyes at the trash talking then gives Yamato a nod.

"Cool. So, anything else you wanna do, or you ready to head back to the bar?" Barry would be happy to continue hanging out with Yamato in Central City, even if Yamato declined the superspeed tour, but he knows Yamato does have to get back to everything waiting eventually.

"I'd like to see him try," Yamato fires back, flashing a grin.

Trash talking is great! Even if it is, in this instance, trash talking by proxy.

He glances over at Barry, then finishes his coffee off in a few gulps. "I'm ready to head back."

"Oh, you're totally going down," Cisco says. "Forget all the other names, yours is going to be 'Speedbump' when Barry runs your ass over."

It is fun! Especially because it involves threats to and about someone other than him.

Hearing Yamato is about to go, Cisco throws him a smile.

"Well dude, you got basically the full Central City experience, I hope at least part of it was fun."

In Barry's opinion the trash talk is terrible, but he lets it go.

Polishing off his drink, he nods.

"Cool. Next time we'll plan a trip when things are less crazy." Unless Yamato really enjoyed all the crazy, in which case there's no real shortage of opportunities for that.

Yamato gives a quick laugh at that, nudging Cisco with his elbow. "Nah. When I'm done with him, you and Caitlin are going to have an exciting new opportunity to study just how much damage that speed-healing of his can fix."

He does flash Barry a quick, much gentler smile and a wink at that, just to make it clear that he's joking.

"It was fun. I think I owe you both another trip to the Digital World sometime. Or Odaiba," he adds, squeezing Cisco's shoulder. He gives Barry a grin, nodding quickly. "I look forward to it. I can be an obnoxious tourist and make you show me around town, it'll be fun."

"Bring it. We put him back together before, we'll do it again," Cisco says. "Although, it's way more likely we'll be looking after you when you spend the next few months in a KO coma."

Cisco will totally have the Lady Gaga ready to eventually revive Yamato.

Barry listened to both of them and shook his head.

"I have the best friends." All this talk of fighting and being beaten up pretty much proves it.

"C'mon, Yamato, let's head back to the lab so I can get you a door. Next time we can definitely do the tourist thing. All the selfies you could want, man."

"Your ego's writing a check that your Barry can't cash," Yamato grins, giving Cisco a quick, light shove. "Don't cry too much when I beat him into next year, okay?"

He stands up, giving Barry's shoulder a quick squeeze. "Sure, let's go. I'll even let you speed me over there, if you really want."

"Oh-ho-ho, when the time comes I'm so putting money down on this," Cisco promises.

Watching Yamato and Barry get up, he throws Yamato a grin.

"Hey, for real though, thanks for your help with everything. I'll catch you in the bar soon." Having just escaped the lab, Cisco wasn't looking to head back so soon. He might hang out for another triple-espresso, actually.

"In the meantime, try not to almost die anymore, alright?"

"We can walk," Barry says with a grin.

They can totally walk, outside. But as soon as they're there Barry is so going to speed them back to the Labs, because he can.

"I'll match any bet you make," Yamato replies, shaking his head. The thanks makes him go a little pink, though, and he ducks his head awkwardly, looking away. "It was no problem. And I'll do my best not to almost die, I promise. Catch you soon, kiddo."

He gives Barry a nod, following him outside, entirely expecting that Barry will, at some point, decide to use speed instead. He's braced for it, so even though he tenses up a little as they go, he relaxes as soon as they stop again.
